Cherry Grove - Pipiriki

Guided

Freedom Hire

Our guided tours are great fun as well as being educational, informative and relaxing. We take care of everything and ensure a stress free, enjoyable experience.
We have guides available for all our canoeing and tramping
trips. This is a particularly great choice for large or family groups.

Our guided tours include everything that is required for your trip, including experienced guides, food, tents, cooking facilities, canoe and/or jet boat hire, DoC hut and campsite passes, safe vehicle storage, return transfers, first aid and additional safety equipment ,
All you need to bring is your own personal gear.

Guided trips are based on a ratio of 1 guide : 10 clients and 5 boats
A minimum of one guide will be first aid certified and for your additional peace of mind we carry an EPIRB or satellite phone.
Whanganui River canoes also has a full jet boat servi on hand.

Our experienced guides provide up to date knowledge regarding the correct paddling techniques when canoeing the Whanganui River. We have in depth environmental knowledge and you can be confident in the knowledge that we are very aware of the potential for changing weather conditions  along the river.

We allow our clients to set the pace for the journey, but your guide will advise and organise the best locations for overnight stops during the trips progress.

Your guides are also quite partial to the odd sing-along, particularly  around the campsites in the evenings.

We provide catering for all meals during the trip.
Including breakfast on the day of departure.
An evening meal on the final day of a tour can also be arranged. Meals are good, wholesome, Kiwi cuisine.
Please advise on any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
 

Our Freedom hire option is great for canoeists or parties seeking a great adventure with complete freedom. It will allow you to experience and view the  river at your own pace.

Freedom hire includes:

  • Canoe
  • Waterproof storage barrels
  • Full instructions on how to navigate the river
  • Paddles
  • Paddling instruction
  • Camp sites information
  • Life jackets
  • River reading/paddling instructions
  • Jet boat safety service back up

We can also supply you with a range of camping equipment
including cookers,
tents etc.

All trips include transport from Raetihi to the start of your journey down the river and pick up from your destination.

Safe storage for your vehicle is also included.

An extra day can be taken for no additional cost on our 3-5 day options .

A night at the Bridge To Nowhere Lodge is also an option, this is an  awesome place to spend your last night on the river and enjoy a  beautiful buffet meal, a fully licensed bar and drink in the stunning scenery.
