Meet Ben and Rebecca
Ben Adam and Rebecca Mead have grown up in the area, and have extensive knowledge of Whanganui, and the Whanganui River.
Ben is a Jet Boat Driver for the Bridge to Nowhere Tours, and has worked on the Whanganui River for many years. Ben and his family have lived at the Bridge to Nowhere Lodge for the last eight years, during which he has spent much of his time canoeing, jet boating and hunting in the area. Ben and Rebecca can arrange accommodation for you on the river at the Bridge to Nowhere Lodge, and as Ben drives jet boats up and down the river every day – he can ensure you are safe.
Rebecca has worked in Hospitality and Tourism for some time, and will greet you at the Raetihi Holiday Park with a friendly smile (a great option for you is to stay at the Holiday Park the night before your trip). The Whanganui River has an important place in Rebecca’s family history. Her Great Grandfather, William (Bill) Mead is a well-known man in the area. He has written many books about the Whanganui River, and was one of the first people to map the river –his maps are still used by many canoeists (including Whanganui River Canoes’ clients) today. Ben and Rebecca met five years ago, and in that time have achieved so much.
They are a down to earth, hard working couple who started a business which would fit in with their lifestyles that they can pass on to their young children Jasmine and Blake.
Ben and Rebecca love raising their young adventurous family, and can’t wait to show you their world.
